POWERDRIVE™ EV-Charger
Electric vehicle (EV) chargers are devices that allow you to charge your EV’s battery. They come in a variety of types, including:
- Level 1 chargers: These chargers use a standard 120-volt household outlet and can provide a charging rate of up to 3-8 kms of range per hour.
- Level 2 chargers: These chargers use a 240-volt outlet and can provide a charging rate of up to 32-48 kms of range per hour.
- DC fast chargers: These chargers use high-voltage electricity to provide a very fast charging rate, typically up to 130 kms of range in just 30 minutes.
EV chargers work by converting the alternating current (AC) power from the grid into direct current (DC) power, which is what EV batteries can use. The charging process begins when the EV is plugged into the charger. The charger then communicates with the EV to determine the battery’s state of charge and the maximum charging rate that the battery can safely handle. Once this information is exchanged, the charger begins to deliver DC power to the battery.
